Site Updates = More Ad Revenue?
During March and April, I was updating my Manga Tutorials website every week with new tutorials on how to use the program Manga Studio. I didn’t have Google Analytics till late last month and after checking it recently, I noticed something… There was spikes of traffic during the times when I updated the site.
In my previous article, To Advertise or Not to Advertise?, I concluded that the increase in ad revenue was due to the additional ads I placed in all my pages and not just the top tier pages. After seeing the stats in Analytics and the sudden drop in ad revenue from the prior month to this month, maybe it was also a combination of something else – the frequent updates – that brought my ad revenue up.
Adding more ads brings more impressions but if you have your regular stream of users and no new ones, you will have the usual income earnings. But if you update and get more visitors to the site, it will now have new eyeballs to go through your site!
Right now, my site hasn’t been updated for awhile but I will keep track of this again later this month when I start updating Manga Tutorials regularly again with new CG tutorials. I’ll post up the results after that and we’ll see if regular updates. (I know, I know, Manga Tutorials isn’t a gaming site but the theory behind it relates – if you update your site with new games, you will get new visitors as well, no?)
