Change In Affiliate Terms
I will be changing the affiliate terms a bit, specifically the bit about the Paypal transaction fee. I don’t know what I will decide in the end but it’s one of the following:
a) absorb the full cost of the transaction fee so all affiliates will have a true 90-10 earning/commission rate (or whatever the commission rate is agreed upon at the moment)
b) split the transaction fee to either…
1) affiliates will take up the 2% and I take the $0.30 fee
2) affiliates take 1% and I take the other 1% + $0.30 fee
3) split the cost 50/50 depending on the final total of the Paypal fee
I think the easiest all around would be A because there are a lot of situations in the B examples that can get a bit dicey and complicated. For example, what if a customer bought from various affiliates at one time? Why should all the affiliates get charged the Paypal fee? Talk about a headache!
Hrmm… I’ll think about it some more. :\

RFGA News Update
Hey everyone! It’s been awhile since I posted any news-worthy information for you guys so here’s what’s been happening:
1) In-House Affiliation is almost ready. I haven’t tested posting up products but sign-up and log-in to the account works well. I have no reason to think that posting up products will not work but who knows? Better know 100% before making the service live, right?
2) I redid all the hair styles to fit well with the redone faces. Most are fairly the same with one that I redid one side of quite a bit. All I have to do now is repack and update the zip files.
3) I’ve set up a forum, mainly for any affiliates who have joined or those interested in finding out more information than available at the front pages. I created it recently and haven’t had a chance to build it up more than making a general discussion category and a brief hello post. Feel free to drop by though and suggestions are more than welcome. :)
4) Site maintenance is done. It was, as I said briefly last week, in an effort to make a certain service work correctly at the site. Specifically, it’s basically a points system. For every dollar you spend, you get points back which you can redeem at a later date and will not expire, ever. I plan on using this as an incentive in general and hey, it’s a nice little thing to have specially if I do special sales like double/triple points or more during certain times of the year (…like Valentines? ;D )
Well, those are the major news. There are some other things like the Alys Avatar face features but I’ll talk about those once I’m done with the hair. Till next time!

RFGA Affiliation Terms
Hello! Yesterday, I talked about the affiliation terms at Royalty Free Game Art. You can read the completed version here.
I’ve made it so it’s easy to read through and I think I’ve pretty much covered everything that needs to be covered. If there’s something I’m missing or you have a question about, drop me a line or post a comment.
Regarding the rate, it will initally be 90-10 in the artist’s favor for those who sign up. After several months, I will change the sign-up rate to 80-20 and then eventually 70-30 for all new affiliates. In other words, early adopters will get the better rate so keep your eyes peeled here or at RFGA. ; )

Alys Neck Set All Available
I’ve made the neck set available today. I was actually done with it earlier this week but I wanted to wait for the face so I can put it together with the neck previews… because, frankly, the neck preview looks odd with just the neck. Oh well. I couldn’t wait any longer and I could always go back and change the image later. :\
….
…….
It still looks odd though! >_<

Holidays & Alys Avatar Updates
I hope every one of you had a nice Christmas or at least a nice respite yesterday. I definitely did though I think there were moments when I felt sick because I ate too much… O_O;
Well, with Christmas over, I am now back in the swing of things. I’m currently working on the head and neck. They should be up by tomorrow if all goes well; finishing touches tonight, packing and uploading tomorrow. Afterwords, I’ll work on ears, nose, mouth, and eyes, in no particular order. Clothes, new hairstyles, and so on will come after all those.
Regarding the face and neck, there will be various shades of skin color each offered individually and in a complete pack for all the tones. Eyes will probably be the same, along with ears. The mouth and nose are much simpler and several may be packed into one set instead of sold individually but we’ll see…
As always, if you have any requests for a certain style of clothing you are looking to see, please contact me regarding your request or leave a comment here. I’ll make sure to prioritize your request. Cheers! (And don’t eat too much! ;D )

Avatar Parts on the Cheap
As you may already know, I will begin posting up parts to my first avatar set called Alys in Royalty Free Game Art. In an earlier post, I stated that parts will not exceed $1.00 each. I went back and really worked on the pricing for the individual parts that I think would be reasonable if those same parts were sold in a set. So far, parts will range from $0.20 to $0.50 with the most expensive part being the hair. So, for the price of $20 USD even, you can get these parts:
- 3 face types
- 5 noses
- 3 necks
- 6 eyebrows
- 5 mouths
- 5 eyes
- 2 ears
- 5 bangs with same color
- 5 hair (back) with same color
On top of that, they’re royalty free so you can save money if you’re frugal and buy only what you need.
If you look closely at the list, I didn’t include clothes, accessories, or beards to name a few. The above list is actually what I plan on making into the Base Set. If you want want to customize it further, you’ll have to buy the parts yourself because let’s face it, I don’t know what you want and I’m not going to guess what you want. Maybe in future when I know what is the most popular parts selling for a certain genre, I can pack them together but for now – this is up in the air.
Btw, if you have a certain preference for a style you would like me to make first like fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary, etc, please contact me and I’ll make your request a priority. …And considering no one made a request yet, you’ll definitely know you’re getting your stuff first! :D

Purty Colors For Your Avatars
As I said previously, one of the parts I will be posting up for the first avatar set is hair and one of the preparations that delayed my posting of the avatar set is creating multiple colors for them. Here’s one set of hair (ponytail #3) you can take a look at:

All one really needs is one hair color so you can manipulate it but these are available for those who would rather not mess with that. Not to mention there are certain colors that are just better when done manually or you cannot create using the hue & saturation. For example, I was trying to create dark colored hair versions but they turned out very ugly imo and I’d personally not use such horrendous colors in my own characters.
I also couldn’t make certain colors such as black or brown without affecting the lines of the hair in some way or other that didn’t look too good. If you can get those colors, then props to you. (….Mind telling me how you got them? ;D )
Anyways, be on the look out for them tonight! n_n

Avid for Avatars?
I will begin posting parts to the first avatar style, named Alys, at the site tomorrow (Monday, December 22). I had thought I would get some up today but there was a lot more preparations than I anticipated. Once that’s done though, I can breeze through getting the parts up.
With that said, the parts I am okay with releasing will come first and parts that needs fixing/tweaking will be released later. I can say now that hair, hair accessories, necks, and noses will come first. Faces, ears, eyes, and eyebrows will come soon after. From then on, I will continue building on the set with new parts. Once I build enough, I will pack a certain amount of parts together and make a set available for purchase with the very original name; Alys Base Set. ; )
Once I have that going, I plan on providing boxes and fancy borders you can use on your avatars to jazz them up. I already have a plan set on how to make them so you can piece together your own box or border and make it for whatever sized avatar you want from 320×320 to 92×92. But enough of that, please drop by Royalty Free Game Art in the following days to come as I post up our first avatar set!

Affiliation Reminder
Just wanted to remind everyone that I will be accepting affiliates at Royalty Free Game Art. Affiliation is in-house only meaning artists can post and sell their products in RFGA rather than take the products in RFGA and sell it at their web site. I haven’t completed setting up the affiliation system yet so at the moment, I am not signing any affiliates up.
For those interested, here’s some affiliation information that I will definitely adhere to once everything is ready. Complete affiliation terms will be made public several days before I open up the affiliation system which I hope to do around the end of 2008/early 2009. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line at the RFGA site or post a reply here.

Avatar Bangs or Fringes
Here’s a preview of some more avatar bangs or fringes as some of you may call them, I will be churning out:

Some of them I already finished and began work on. Most of them need to be done which is not too bad considering I’ve gotten pretty fast CGing cel-style. Of course, these aren’t the only parts I will be working on so stay tuned for more previews! ; )
